Overview
The RPI-Wadsworth Bioinformatics Center offers some of its reasearch software
to the entire scientific and medical community nation wide and world wide through
its bioinformatics web server. In addition, other useful, more traditional applications
that have been programmed by RPI students are offered. The web server is currently
a cluster of 36 dual processor Intel based computers running Red
Hat Linux. The current equipment was donated by IBM in an SUR (Shared University
Research) grant to Michael Zuker, PI.
Applications
Bayesian - algorithms for macromolecular structure analysis and
inference technology for molecular and structural biology
I-sites - a new method for predicting the local structure of a
protein from its amino acid sequence
RNA & DNA Folding - algorithms, thermodynamics and databases
for RNA secondary structure
sfold - statistical folding and rational design of nucleic acids
